Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. National Read a Road Map Day falls on April 5th. Would people say you have a good sense of direction? Do you rely on a GPS when you drive somewhere new? When was the last time you used a map?

This question cracks me up because I have been doing nothing map reading/GPS mocking for the last few days.  I have a horrible sense of direction, so I don't really have any choice but to rely on maps and GPS.  (Always both if possible, but I do feel like the GPS mocks me.)

2. What's your favorite cookbook?

I don't cook, but I have this wonderful Christmas dessert book by my fictional Nana, also known as Paula Deen.  It's awesome!

3. What painting would you like to "walk into" and experience? Why?

I would want to be in Van Gogh's The Cafe Terrace on the Place du Forum, Arles, at Night c. 1888.  And I totally Googled that to get the appropriate name.  I love the colors and happen to have it in my kitchen.

4. What annoys you more- misspellings or mispronunciations?

I really dislike it when people misuse apostrophes.  Plural is not necessarily possessive, people!  Mispronunciations only bother me if someone is reading from a script.  If you have had time to review it, you've had time to ask about the words you don't know.

5. What is something your mother or father considered important?

With my mother, it's certainly education.  She is a high-achiever and she wants us to be the best that we can be as well.  With my dad, responsibility.

6. Do you like or dislike schedules?

I like to have a plan, but I am more than willing to be flexible.  And unless it's something really important, like an event I've planned, it doesn't really bother me if things aren't going exactly as I saw them.

7. Let's have some fun with National Poetry Month (that would be April)...write your own ending to this poem-

"Roses are Red
Violets are blue..."
The beach is gorgeous
And I am, too.
BAHAHAHA! I love poetry, but I'm going to leave it to the pros!  My favorite poem is "i carry your heart (i carry it in" by ee cummings.

Incidentally if you'd like to read the history behind that little ditty you'll find it here.

8. If it wasn't miles away from my family and friends, I had any possible job prospects, and I wasn't so freaked out by hurricanes, I would never leave the beach.

  2. You totally picked the same painting as me. Should I be worried?

  3. Education and responsibility will get you a long way and so will Paula Deen!

  4. I heart Paula Deen with her butter and her bacon and her fried stuff.

I wish I could pick the voice to narrate my navigation. I would totally pick the Crocodile Hunter's voice to tell me to "Please turn right now. Crikey!"
