Wednesday Hodgepodge 3/14

1. Best place you've been lately?

Honestly, it's been crazy busy with musical practices finishing up and track practices starting, so the best place I've been lately is at home in bed!  That feeling that you get when you can finally settle in at the end of the day is the best!

2. What's something you should say yes to today? Or this week? Or even this year?

This year, I'd like to say yes to adventures more.  It's hard being single in a small town at this age because all my friends either live away from here or are married with kids.  I'm not a huge fan of traveling by myself, but I don't really have anyone who can just pick up and go with me either.  But I'd like to be creative and find some ways to travel, even short distances, and see some things I've been wanting to see.

3. Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day in any way, shape, or form? If so tell us how. In Western cultures, the color green is typically associated with jealousy, nature, good luck, and growth. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word 'green'?

I'm not a big St. Patrick's Day person.  I do usually try to wear something green, though.  When I hear the word green, I think of winter wheat which is the most beautiful color of green.

4. What's a product or service you love so much you'd happily be their spokesperson? Tell us what makes you such a fan.

I really struggled with this question.  I've been trying to find a new face regimen and ran across Soap and Glory's 4-1 Cleansing Milk, which smells like peaches.  I feel pretty strongly about that right now.   Or my Kenra 25 Hairspray, which with my recent hair issues has been a lifesaver.

5. March 14th is Pi Day. How are your math skills? What's the last thing you did that required math of any kind? And most importantly do you like pie? What's your favorite kind? With ice cream, whipped cream, or please hold the cream?
My math skills are not much to write home about.  I can teach a lot of subjects, but math is not one of them.  Yesterday, I was helping some students figure out what their target grades had to be for the 4th Quarter, so that's probably the most recent use.

As for pie, I'm very picky.  I like my grandma's apple crumb pie, and I like a couple of pies from a local bake shop, but that's probably it.  Always ice cream.  Always.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.

It's possible that I've just mentally shut down from all the things that I have going on over the next month.  Between school stuff and my sister's wedding, I'm just on auto-pilot.  But I'm trying to remember that things will all get done, one way or another.

  1. I totally understand being on auto-pilot when you're busy. I've been the same with buying a house.

  2. I think compartmentalizing is key when we're overwhelmed by our calendars and to-dos. One thing at a time, one day at a time. Hope you find a travel buddy or a way to venture out on your own. If you want to see the world I say go see it!

  3. I am in the same position on traveling alone. Now I can finally afford to start travelling more and have the time (retired) but my husband is NOT a traveling person. So that leaves me alone to travel, which is not something I enjoy. So...what to do? hmmm

  5. I understand about being overwhelmed with all sorts of things. Are you a list maker? I am and that helped me a lot. I not only made the list but numbered each item with it's importance. If I got the ones and twos done in a day great, If I also got any threes done, then I was an overreacher that day and I felt great.
