Wednesday Hodgepodge - 9/4

1. In your opinion what's the most important job in the world? Oh, and parenting is a given so besides parenting, what's the most important job in the world?

I'm biased, but I think teaching is pretty important.  Being given another person's child for eight hours, five days a week and being responsible for imparting all the information they need to go out into the world as an intelligent individual...that's a lot of pressure.

2. Share a favorite or not so favorite memory from a childhood birthday.

I love my birthday!  Always have.  One of my favorites is when my incredibly brave mother let me have 10 of my junior high school girl friends over for a slumber party.  We made our own music video and just generally had a great time.  I also had another birthday where they let me invite a whole bunch of friends over to my grandpa's barn for a bonfire and party.  I've had a lot of good birthdays.

3. Peanut butter-crunchy or smooth?

Depends on the situation.  I like both.  Lately, I've been into the JIF Natural Smooth.

4. William Butler Yeats is credited as saying, "Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth, We are happy when we are growing." Your thoughts?

I think he's exactly right.  Sometimes we don't really see it that way in the moment, but I think that in the end, it's true.  Change is scary and difficult at times (unless you are one of the crazy people who like it), but so many times, the growth is what changes us for the better.

5. What's something that makes you cringe?

High pitched noises, particularly music boxes.

6. Name a song that always puts you in a good mood?

"Good Day" by Greg Street and Nappy Roots.  Every single time it will make me smile, without fail.  And I have no clue why, because I am not exactly ghetto.

7. The answer is yes. What's the question?

Are you ready for fall weather?

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I am having the best time with my Music Appreciation class.  They are such a diverse group and often know songs that I don't think they will.  We are really having a good time learning together.

  2. Your birthday reminds me of one my daughter had... we ate dinner at Hard Rock and once we got home the girls all performed songs and we videotaped them. So fun!

    1. I just wish I still had that video! Now that we are all in our 30s, it would be especially hilarious to see us emoting over an Expose break-up song. ("I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me" if you were curious.)

  4. I agree with you about teaching! Thank you for All YOU DO! And, I'm glad to hear the Music Appreciation Class is going well. Have you introduced your students to some good country music yet? (A true American form of music...)
